Raleigh -- November 8, 2023: Due to increased fire risk, the N.C. Forest Service has issued a ban on all open burning and has canceled all burning permits for Alexander, Alleghany, Ashe, Avery, Buncombe, Caldwell, Catawba, Haywood, Iredell, Lincoln, Madison, Mecklenburg, Mitchell, Watauga, Wilkes, and Yancey counties effective 5 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 8, until further notice.

Asheville -- November 8, 2923: Officers from the Asheville Police Department (APD) promptly arrived at the 270 block of Deaverview Road at around 6:02 p.m. Saturday in order to investigate a reported incident involving a gunshot wound.

Raliegh -- Due to severe drought conditions in Western North Carolina, the North Carolina Forest Service has implemented a burn ban in 14 counties to prevent further ignition of brush fires.
