Asheville --  The Asheville Police Department has concluded its investigation into a pedestrian collision that claimed the life of the pedestrian involved earlier this year.

Around 12:55 a.m. on March 3, officers were called to the 200 block of Tunnel Road after a pedestrian was hit by a vehicle.

According to the preliminary investigation, a 2021 Toyota Sienna Minivan driving west in the right lane struck Larry Lamont McQueen (02/02/1978), a pedestrian, as he crossed the street without using a designated crosswalk.  After being sent to Mission Hospital, McQueen stayed there until June 27, 2025, when his injuries caused him to pass away.  Next of kin has been notified.

The night of the incident, McQueen had not stepped in the crosswalk It was decided that the driver who stayed on the scene would not face any charges after speaking with the Buncombe County District Attorney's Office.
