Asheville Police Investigate Double Homicide

Asheville -- December 17, 2024: Press Release: Asheville Police detectives are investigating a double homicide in Pisgah

View Apartments Monday afternoon.

Officers responded to Cordova Street around 3:19 p.m. on December 16th to investigate reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, officers located two victims in the main living area of an apartment and performed CPR on one victim, who was soon thereafter pronounced dead. The other victim was also pronounced dead.

Detectives and Forensic Technicians were called to the scene to investigate and are working with the N.C. Office of the Chief Medical Examiner to determine the circumstances surrounding the deaths.   

These are the 12th and 13th homicides investigated by the Asheville Police Department in 2024.

detectives are releasing the name of one decedent from Monday night’s double homicide, following next of kin notification.

Jaylen Deshawn Boston (02/27/1996) has been identified as one of the victims fatally shot on December 16th. The other victim is a 16-year-old juvenile.
