Passenger Dies in Asheville Accident
Asheville -- January 16, 2024: A single motor vehicle collision that transpired early Saturday morning and resulted in the
fatality of a passenger is under investigation by the Asheville Police Department.
APD Patrol Officers were dispatched to the location of a motor vehicle collision involving injuries that occurred at the Amboy Road exit on Interstate 240 East on January 13 at approximately 5:17 a.m. A 2011 Dodge Ram Truck veered off the road, collided with the guardrail and a light pole, and ultimately stopped at the base of the exit ramp, according to the information gathered from the preliminary investigation. The driver was unharmed and remained at the location of the collision. After being transported to Mission Hospital, with life-threatening injuries, Andres Villeda-Arroyo, succumbed to his later that afternoon. The next of kin has been duly informed.
During the investigation, the Amboy Road exit was closed temporarily.
