Brevard -- The Brevard Police Department and the Transylvania County Sheriff’s Office Announce Arrest of Additional Suspect in Fatal Pedestrian Hit & Run Investigation

The Brevard Police Department and the Transylvania County Sheriff’s Office have announced the arrest of Amber Shay Morgan, age 43, of Brevard, North Carolina. Morgan is charged with Felony Accessory After the Fact, in connection with the October 3, fatal hit-and-run collision that killed Roy Lee Waters, of Brevard, North Carolina after he succumbed to his injuries on October 6, 2023.
Morgan is currently being held at the Transylvania County Jail pending trial. The bond has been set at $100,000 secured.
The Brevard Police Department and the Transylvania County Sheriff’s Office continue to investigate the incident. Anyone with additional information is asked to reach out to either agency at the numbers listed above, or you can submit a tip via the Brevard Police Department App or the Transylvania County Sheriff’s

    We have had multiple reports of an individual calling and claiming to be from the Haywood County Sheriff's Office (specifically Chief Trantham or Lt. Greathouse). They are trying to convince our citizens to pay them money or go to jail because they have missed jury duty. Additionally, they are calling from a number that rings back to our dispatch or from a private number. THIS IS A SCAM. No one from our office will ever call and request money for any reason. You may also reach out to law enforcement if you feel you have been a victim of this scam. You can reach the Haywood County Sheriff's Office Non-Emergency line at 828-452-6666.
