Asheville Police Charge Man in Stabbing
Asheville -- June 12, 2023: An Asheville man was charged with stabbing and attacking another man early Thursday morning in downtown Asheville.
According to an Asheville Police report, officers responded to a stabbing at 12:02 a.m. on June 8 in the 440 block of Haywood Road. The suspect ran away when police arrived. One victim had seven neck and facial stab wounds. The victim received critical care at Mission Hospital. The second assault victim stayed to help police identify the culprit.
APD officers suspected Larry Vernon Minish after an initial investigation. Officers found Minish on State Street and arrested him.
After a thorough investigation, Detectives charged Minish with the following:
-Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill
-Assault with a Deadly Weapon
-Resist/ Delay/Obstruct
-Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
Minish is currently being held in the Buncombe County Detention Facility under a $251,000.00 secured bond (or $25,100 to a bondsman) issued by the magistrate.
