Three County Sheriff Departments Work Together on Drug Case

Burke County -- February 19, 2023: On February 7, 2023, the Burke, Caldwell and
McDowell County Sheriff's Offices

worked together on a drug case. The joint operation led to the capture of a Methamphetamine trafficker and the
seizure of a lot of drugs. A search warrant was carried out at a house in Glen Alpine at 2301 Lail Road. Gregory Travis
Gowan, who is 52 years old, was taken into custody without any trouble. When detectives searched the property, they
found about 4,341 grams of methamphetamine and about $15,000 in U.S. currency. The street value of the methamphetamine is $651,150.

Gowan was charged with one count of Felonious Trafficking of Methamphetamine, one count of Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver Methamphetamine, and one count of Maintaining a Dwelling to Keep/Store a Controlled Substance. Gowan was locked up in the Burke County Jail because he couldn't pay a $250,000 bond.
