McDowell County Shooting Under Investigation

McDowell County -- On Monday, McDowell County Sheriff's Office deputies and detectives responded to a gunshot at Vein Mountain Road in the Dysartsville community.

Christopher Dwayne Lawing, 34, was transferred to Mission Hospital - Asheville after receiving a gunshot wound. Lawing is likely to recover.
A person of interest was identified and interviewed, but no charges have been brought at this time. There are no more threats to the community.

This case is still under investigation. The findings will be passed over to the District Attorney's Office for additional investigation.
