Yancey County Man Faces Solicit Child by Computer Charge

Yancey County -- August 16, 2024: An investigation conducted by the Yancey County Sheriff's Office has resulted

in the arrest of John Walter Willett, III, 67, of Burnsville. Willett had been engaging in the online solicitation of juveniles for sexual acts.

Willett was taken into custody on August 13, 2024, and charged with Felony Solicit Child By Computer. Willett was transported to the Yancey County Detention Center where he was issued a $25,000 secure bond.

This case remains under investigation, and no further details are available at this time.
