Body of Haywood County Woman Found

Haywood County -- October 12, 2023: At the summit of Allen's Creek Road, at the Harrison Construction rock quarry, the Haywood County Sheriff's Office is conducting an investigation into a death.

On Tuesday, September 26, the Waynesville Police Department, Haywood County Sheriff's Office, Haywood County Emergency Services, and several other agencies responded to a complaint about a missing woman identified as Jessica Byrd.

Byrd was located using a drone by the Waynesville Police Department.
There are currently no suspicions of foul play, but the incident is still being investigated. Byrd was not employed by the quarry.
