APD Arrest 33 in Quality-of-Life Issues Operations

Asheville -- October 9, 2023: Asheville Police reported during two recent operations targeting quality-of-life issues in various areas of Asheville.

Detectives and officers with the Asheville Police Department issued citations to or arrested 62 offenders.

The operations were conducted in response to residents' ongoing complaints and community organizations' outcry. These operations targeted habitual offenders' criminal behavior. The operation was staffed by Detectives and officers from nearly every division of the department operating outside of their normal shifts.

In the operations, 29 individuals were cited and 33 were arrested, with a total of 64 charges, of which 3 were felonies. In addition, 17 of the 28 warrants served were for felonies. One charge requires additional investigation.
Similar initiatives are planned for downtown and other city locations in the future.
