Wildfire Smoke Causes WNC Air Quality Alerts and Burn Bans
WNC -- June 7, 2023: Wildfire smoke from Canada is hazing Western North Carolina sky on Wednesday.
Most of the mountain region has a Code Orange Air Quality Action Day for Ground Level Ozone from the NCDEQ. East of the French Broad River Valley is Code Red.
Code Red means unhealthy air for everyone. Code Orange indicates bad air quality for sensitive groups like asthmatics.
Ground Level Ozone may exceed unhealthy levels on an Air Quality Action Day.
Due to the Code Orange Air Quality Alert, the Asheville-Buncombe Air Quality Agency prohibits open burning.
