Stabbing at Asheville Bus Stop, One Injured
Asheville -- April 20, 2023: Early on Tuesday morning, Asheville Police were called to a physical fight
between two males on Haywood Street near Clingman Avenue.
One of the men was stabbed in the neck, while the other man fled the scene.
Around 5:30 a.m. on April 18, APD officers responded to a bus stop in downtown for a report of a deadly weapon assault. When they arrived, they discovered one individual with what seemed to be a non-life-threatening neck injury; the victim declined medical attention.
The victim told police that after asking the suspect for a cigarette, the two males got into a violent struggle. Prior to the arrival of the police, the suspect pulled out a knife, started swinging, stabbed the victim in the throat, and then fled the scene.
The only information the police have about the suspect is that witnesses at the scene described him as a white male.
