Asheville Police Bomb Squad Detonate "Blasting Caps"

Asheville -- February 6, 2023: Late on Saturday night, a metal box containing decomposing nitro-dynamite
was discovered,

and the Barnardsville neighborhood alerted the APD Bomb Squad. The team prepared the area and waited until it was light enough to utilize their robot and a particular charge to set off the dynamite. 

Asheville Police report: "A search of the area revealed 27 electric detonators, “blasting caps”, so the team put another crater next to the old barn they had been home to the explosives for more than 50 years.

A big thank you to the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office for helping keep the area secure until daylight!"
