Asheville -- Asheville police arrested a man Sunday morning on charges of domestic violence and assault

with a deadly weapon when he intentionally crashed into a first responder's patrol vehicle during a domestic call around 7:30 a.m. March 6.

Officers responded to the 100 block of Bartlett Street for a reported domestic disturbance, where the male offender was actively assaulting a female victim. The male offender fled the scene in the female victim's vehicle before officers arrived, but returned and crashed his vehicle into the responding officer’s patrol vehicle, causing significant damage to the vehicles and minor injuries to the officer and offender. 

The officer was treated for minor inuries and released from Mission Hospital, the man also received treatment at the hospital from injuries from the crash. He was released ant  transported to Buncombe County Detention Center for booking.

Dontro Davon Powell, 43, has been charged with the following regarding the domestic violence call: Assault on a Female (two counts), Larceny of a Motor Vehicle, and Assault with a Deadly Weapon. Other charges from today's incident include: Assault with a Deadly Weapon on a Government Official, DWI, and No Operator’s

He currently being held without bond at this time.
