Asheville Fire Department Mourn Loss of One of Their Own
Asheville -- January 10, 2022: Asheville Fire Department announced the loss of one of their own.
This morning on Facebook, the Asheville Fire Department announced the death of Dewayne Fender, a member since
1994.
Visitation will be Wednesday 1:30 pm - 5:30 pm Wednesday at Trinity Baptist Church
Funeral Thursday 1:00 pm Trinity Baptist Church

It is with great sadness that the Asheville Fire Department has lost our brother, Fire Investigator Dewayne Fender. Dewayne died on Friday, January 8 after battling cancer for 13 months. His death leaves an emptiness among his fire department family that will never be filled. Dewayne joined AFD on January 31st of 1994 and took great pride in being an Asheville Firefighter and serving his community. Dewayne will be deeply missed.
