Asheville, NC (Dec. 28, 2021): The Asheville Police Department is investigating two separate gun discharge cases at two

different locations in the city within an hour of each other.

The first incident occurred at 640 Merrimon Avenue around 2:13 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 26, for reports of shots heard . After further investigation and completing a walk through of the parking lot area, officers were unable to locate shell casing but heard the sound of a gunshot that sounded to be in the nearby area. No injuries nor property damage have been reported.
The second incident occurred at 2:55 a.m. near the 100 block of Atkinson Street after receiving multiple reports of gun discharge in the area. While conducting their investigations, APD officers recovered 10 shell casings in the area. No injuries nor property damage have been reported.
Detectives are seeking the public's help in obtaining a suspect and vehicle description for both incidents.

Since January 1, 2021, the Asheville Police Department has responded to 596 calls for service reporting shots fired or someone being shot. In addition, 46 people have been shot in Asheville this year.
