Asheville, NC (Dec. 28, 2021): APD Detectives and Officers, along with the NC Dept. of Public Safety worked together

to arrest a man for selling drugs and firearms on Depot St, just south of Downtown.

On Dec. 22, officers arrested Matthew Lynn Goldsmith, Jr., 22, of Asheville, and charged him with:
- Possession with Intent to Sell or Distribute Schedule I
- Trafficking a Synthetic Cannabinoids

Officers also seized the following from Goldsmith:
- FN Herstal 5.7 pistol (5.7x28 cal)
- Glock 27 pistol w/ extended magazine (.40 cal)
- 97.7 grams of psilocybin mushroom chocolate
Also during their shift, detectives received information about a wanted suspect in the area and were able
to take him and another man into custody after the men tried to elude police on bicycles and on foot on
Burton Street and into some neighboring homes near Buffalo Street. However, they were taken into custody
and arrested:

Michael Lynn Hayes, Jr., 29, of Asheville
- Failure to appear in court for Driving While License Revoked x2
- Failure to appear in court for Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle
- Failure to appear in court for Hit & Run x2
- Failure to appear in court for Expired Registration Tag
- Failure to appear in court for Resisting, Delaying or Obstructing
- Failure to appear in court for Reckless Driving
- Failure to appear in court for Misdemeanor Larceny
- Failure to appear in court for Simple Possession of Schedule IV
- Charged: Resisting, Delaying or Obstructing
- Charged: Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
Austin Andrew Enderle, 23, of Asheville
- Charged: Resisting, Delaying or Obstructing
- Warrant: Parole Violation

Each was taken to the Buncombe County Detention Center for booking; Goldsmith posted a 10,000 bond; Hayes and Enderle were released on written promises (no bond required).
