
NC Road Rage Incident: Felony Assault with Deadly Weapon, Intent to Kill

Summary:
On June 12, 2020 the Burke County Sheriffโs Office received a call about a possible road rage incident on Hwy 181 near Avery
County where one vehicle stuck another vehicle multiple times. It was also reported that a shot was possibly fired. Avery
County Deputies stopped the vehicle in question inside Avery County being driven by Robert Spears. Subsequent to further
investigation by Burke County Sheriffโs Office Investigations Division, evidence revealed Robert Spears intentionally struck
the victimโs vehicle several times with his own vehicle. On July 8, 2020, Avery County Sheriffโs Office served Spears with a
Burke County warrant for Felony Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill. Spears was issued a $50,000 secured
bond and booked in the Burke County Jail on July 9, 2020.
