Burke County, NC -- Burke County Sheriff's Office Press Release 

Summary:
On June 12, 2020 the Burke County Sheriffโ€™s Office received a call about a possible road rage incident on Hwy 181 near Avery
County where one vehicle stuck another vehicle multiple times. It was also reported that a shot was possibly fired. Avery
County Deputies stopped the vehicle in question inside Avery County being driven by Robert Spears. Subsequent to further
investigation by Burke County Sheriffโ€™s Office Investigations Division, evidence revealed Robert Spears intentionally struck
the victimโ€™s vehicle several times with his own vehicle. On July 8, 2020, Avery County Sheriffโ€™s Office served Spears with a
Burke County warrant for Felony Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill. Spears was issued a $50,000 secured
bond and booked in the Burke County Jail on July 9, 2020.
