Man dies, First Homicide in Asheville this Year
Asheville -- Asheville Police 2:44 p.m. April 15, 2021: #UPDATE: The man that was shot has unfortunately passed away.
Officers are working to notify his loved ones of his passing. Only after the notification will any identifying information be available.
This is the first homicide in Asheville in 2021.

A shooting on Southern Street has left one man in critical, life-threatening condition. At 9:51 a.m. the Asheville Police Department received a 9-1-1 call reporting someone who had been shot outside of an apartment.
Detectives are working to investigate this shooting, but need your help. Anyone with information can submit it anonymously using the TIP2APD smartphone application (search "Asheville PD" in your app store) or by texting TIP2APD to 847411. You can also call (828) 252-1110 with information.
Since January 1, 2021, the Asheville Police Department has responded to 144 calls for service reporting a shooting or someone being shot. In addition, 6 people have been shot in Asheville this year.
