Asheville -- Asheville Police Department April 15, 2021: Since January 1, 2021, the Asheville Police Department has

responded to 144 calls for service reporting a shooting or someone being shot. In addition, 6 people have been shot in Asheville this year.A 9mm handgun was located on Tristin Marquese Maewether during his arrest on April 14. He had open warrants for assault by pointing a gun, assault on a female, hit and run, and reckless driving for an incident where he assaulted and threatened to shoot his girlfriend on February 11, 2021. In addition to those open warrants, he had an active parole violation.

During the arrest, he attempted to run from the officers but was arrested with no injury to himself or the officers. He has been charged with:
Possession of a firearm by a felon
2nd-degree trespassing
Resist, delay, obstruct
Carrying a concealed gun
Assault on a government official
He is currently at the jail being held on no bond.
