COVID-19 VACCINES IN JACKSON COUNTY
Jackson County -- Jackson County Department of Public Health: COVID-19 VACCINES IN JACKSON COUNTY
JCDPH is currently planning and preparing to administer COVID-19 vaccines. JCPDH gathered information on our community’s perception of COVID-19 and the upcoming COVID-19 vaccination through an electronic survey. Results of the survey can be viewed here. We are not certain when the vaccine will be available for administration at this time. We are awaiting final instruction from NC DHHS and CDC before we can begin scheduling appointments or administering vaccines. We will keep our community notified of new information as we receive it via this website, our Facebook page, and through local news outlets.
The CDC and NCDHHS have set guidelines for the distribution of COVID-19 vaccines. The vaccine will be available to all who want it, but supplies will be limited at first. The best way to fight COVID-19 is to start first with vaccinations for those most at risk, then reach more people as the vaccine supply increases throughout 2021. To review these guidelines, click here. Vaccination will begin with Phase 1a and progress to 1b, 2, 3, and 4. Progression into the next Phase will depend on vaccine availability and supply. JCDPH will update the public as we progress from Phase to Phase.
If you are interested in receiving the vaccine at JCDPH, you will be required to complete the following steps:
Register through the COVID-19 Vaccine Management System (CVMS) Portal. The Portal will walk you through a health questionnaire and will determine if you are eligible to receive a vaccine at this time. Note that access to the CVMS Portal is not yet available. This website will be updated once it is available.
If eligible to receive a vaccine, call JCDPH at 828-587-8289 to make an appointment. Appointments will be available on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Arrive at JCDPH at your scheduled appointment time. Bring a copy of your photo identification and insurance card, if applicable. While vaccines are free to patients, JCDPH will be filing insurance to cover the cost of the administration fee. There will be no out-of-pocket cost to the patient.
Receive your vaccine at JCDPH. You will be asked to wait 15 minutes post vaccination to be monitored for any unexpected reasons.
After receiving your first dose of vaccine, make an appointment to receive your second dose. Receiving both doses of the vaccine are very important.
Note that vaccines are not available for administration at JCDPH at this time. Please be flexible as we are working through an ever-changing situation. This website will be updated as we gain additional information.
