
Asheville Search Warrants Lead to Yancey County Stolen Firearms Arrest
Yancey County -- The Yancey County Sheriff's Office coordinated with other agencies in a combined operation on June 5, 2025, in response to an ongoing investigation into many weapons that were stolen from a person on State Highway 80 South.
Detectives carried out a search warrant at a home on Brookside Drive in Asheville in collaboration with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) – Asheville District, the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office, the Buncombe County SRT Team, and the Asheville Police Department.
Additionally, a Storage Unit off Hendersonville Road was the target of a follow-up search warrant. Two people were taken into custody as a result of the operation:
Felony possession of a firearm by a felon, felony second-degree burglary, felony safe-cracking, felony possession of burglary tools, felony larceny following break-in, misdemeanor possession of stolen property, and misdemeanor injury to person property were among the charges brought against 42-year-old Christopher Michael Clemmons of Asheville. Clemmons has a $1,002,000 secure bond and is being held at the Yancey County Detention Center.
Felony Second-Degree Burglary, Felony Safe-cracking, Felony Possession of Burglary Tools, Felony Larceny after Break/Enter, Misdemeanor Possession of Stolen Goods, Misdemeanor Larceny, and Misdemeanor Injury to Personal Property were among the charges brought against Alyson Moss Wilson, 39, of Candler. Wilson has a $135,000 secure bond and is being held at the Yancey County Detention Center.
This inquiry is still in progress. As the evidence is processed, more charges and there may be more arrests.
