Man Wrecks Vehicle, Burglarizes Gas Station in Franklin
Franklin -- Franklin Police Department officers responded to a complaint of a car crash at Holly Springs Plaza on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at around 1:03 AM.
A second call regarding a commercial burglar alarm at the same location as the automobile collision was received by the officers while they were on their way.
When officers got there, they found a man had crashed and then broken into the nearby Ingles Gas Express. Based on the information and evidence gathered at both locations, the male person was heading north on U.S. Highway 441. After veering off the road and into the air, the car crashed into a culvert.
After calling 911 from the outside emergency phone, the man proceeded to the Ingles Gas Express and used a rock to smash the glass front door. He was severely cut when he walked through the broken glass into the business. He looted the retail section of the business while he was inside.
He was sent to Memorial Mission Hospital in Asheville due to injuries he had received in the car accident and break-in. The investigation is ongoing and charges will be pending.
