Webster -- The Webster, North Carolina Post Office is scheduled to close, with services being temporarily relocated to the Sylva Post Office.

The effective date for the permanent closure of the Webster location is reported to be May 31, 2025.

The reason for the closure is understood to be the expiration and non-renewal of the lease agreement for the current building, which is located on private property.

During this temporary relocation period, residents who previously used the Webster Post Office for retail services and mail pickup will need to access these services at the Sylva Post Office.  Customers have the option to arrange for mail delivery to a physical mailbox at their residence or utilize a Post Office Box at the Sylva location.

It is important to note that despite the closure of the physical building and the temporary relocation of services, the Webster zip code will remain unchanged.

The United States Postal Service (USPS) has indicated that this relocation is temporary. They are actively searching for a new, suitable location within Webster to re-establish post office operations for both the short and long term.

The temporary move to Sylva is expected to cause some inconvenience for Webster residents, particularly with anticipated construction work on Highway 107 in the Webster area. The Sylva Post Office is located at 271 Jackson Plz, Sylva, NC 28779.

The USPS aims to find a new permanent home for the Webster Post Office as quickly as possible to minimize disruption to the community.
