
Two Women Face Mulitple Charges in Mitchell County
Mitchell County -- A detective with Mitchell County Sheriff's Office and Spruce Pine Police officers searched a home on Emerald Lane on May
15, 2025, for a suspect wanted in Yancey County on criminal charges.
Mitchell County deputies have visited this property twice this month in an attempt to find wanted persons. The last time it happened, two wanted people from Tennessee were apprehended, and two more people were arrested on drug-related offenses. Rebecca Stewart was taken into custody both yesterday and during the first event.

Possession of Firearm by Felony
Possess Stolen Firearm
Court Date: 6-13-2025
Bond: A bond will be set by District Court Judge Eggers-Gryder. This is due to changes in bond policy in North Carolina. Since Stewart was awaiting a court date on a prior criminal charge, it required the bond to be set by a judge.
Also arrested was Kaitlin Watson, who was hiding in a back room. A private individual had taken a warrant on the 14th of this month.

Bond: will be set by the judge due the charge being domestic violence related.
