Henderson County Sheriff's Travel Reminder

Henderson County -- The Henderson County Sheriff's Office sent out another reminder on social media that the Chimney Rock roads are still closed. We thought it was important enough to pass along.

So, in case you missed the memo (or the million other times you've heard it), surprise! Chimney Rock roads are STILL not open. Yep, we’re repeating ourselves because, apparently, it needs to be said a few more times!
Here’s a handy list of places you should definitely NOT try to take your Sunday drive through:
-Chimney Rock Road at Slick Rock (still closed)
-Grant Mountain (granting no access at this time)
-Bearwallow Mountain Road (bears might be using it, but you can’t)
-NC 9 (nope, not today)
-Hwy 74 (Gerton Hwy) at Bearwallow Mountain
-Hwy 74 at the Henderson/Rutherford County line (a great place to turn around and go home)
We know it’s tempting to come "sightsee" landslides and road barricades like it’s the new national park attraction, but please resist the urge. This area is closed, not just “lightly suggested you don’t go there.”
