Asheville and the Surrounding Area:

Asheville, the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains, beats with energy all summer long.

Downtown After 5 (June 20, August 15): This popular free outdoor concert series transforms downtown Asheville into a ब्लॉक party on select Friday evenings. Enjoy live music from diverse genres, local food vendors, and craft beverages. The June 20th event will feature blues and soul with Southern Avenue and DJ Phantom Pantone, celebrating Black culture. The August 15th lineup is yet to be fully announced but promises another fantastic evening.

Asheville Art in the Park (June 14, 21, 28): Browse and purchase exceptional artwork directly from the artists in downtown Asheville's Pack Square Park. This event showcases a variety of mediums, offering a chance to find a unique treasure and support local creativity on three Saturdays in June.

Shindig on the Green (Saturdays in July & August): A beloved summer tradition, Shindig on the Green brings free outdoor mountain music and dance to Pack Square Park on Saturday evenings throughout July and August. Experience the authentic sounds and steps of the region's bluegrass and old-time music scene.

The Big Crafty (July 12-13): Head to Harrah's Cherokee Center in Asheville for this large-scale indoor-outdoor market featuring hundreds of talented artists and makers. Discover everything from handmade jewelry and ceramics to local food and more.

Craft Fair of the Southern Highlands (July 17-20): Presented by the Southern Highland Craft Guild, this prestigious four-day fair at Harrah's Cherokee Center showcases the finest traditional and contemporary crafts from artists across the region. Mountain Dance and Folk Festival (July 31 - August 2): Celebrating its 98th year, this historic festival is one of the oldest of its kind in the United States. Held at Asheville High School's auditorium, it features traditional mountain music, ballads, and dance.

Asheville Tourists Baseball (Various Dates in June, July, August): Catch America's favorite pastime with the Asheville Tourists, a High-A affiliate of the Houston Astros, at McCormick Field. Enjoy a fun, family-friendly outing at the ballpark with games scheduled throughout the summer months.
Cherokee: Culture and Natural Beauty:

Immerse yourself in the rich history and vibrant culture of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians in Cherokee.

4th of July Powwow (July 4-6): Experience a powerful celebration of Cherokee culture with traditional dance, drumming, and more at the Acquoni Expo Center. The weekend also includes a spectacular 4th of July Fireworks display on July 5th.
Talking Trees Children's Trout Derby (August 1-2): A great opportunity for young anglers, this annual trout derby provides a fun and accessible fishing experience for children.

Open Air Indian Art Market (August): Throughout August, look for opportunities to engage with local Cherokee artists at the Open Air Indian Art Market, featuring live demonstrations and the chance to purchase authentic handcrafted items. Keep an eye out for specific dates to be announced.

"Unto These Hills" Outdoor Drama (Throughout Summer): While specific 2025 dates are being finalized, this long-running outdoor drama typically runs throughout the summer, telling the compelling story of the Cherokee people.


Boone and the High Country:

Higher elevations mean cooler temperatures and a wealth of events in Boone and the surrounding High Country.

An Appalachian Summer Festival (Late June - Late July): Hosted by Appalachian State University, this acclaimed festival offers a diverse lineup of music, dance, theater, and visual arts performances across various venues in Boone. The 2025 schedule includes performances by Amos Lee (June 28), Pink Martini featuring China Forbes (July 26), and many more renowned artists.

Boonerang Music and Arts Festival (June 19-22): Downtown Boone comes alive with this free, walkable festival showcasing a diverse range of musical genres and local arts.

High Country Jazz Festival (June 13-15): Enjoy jazz performances at various locations throughout Boone during this multi-day festival.

Tweetsie Railroad (Open Daily in Summer): This historic theme park offers classic family fun with steam train rides, live entertainment, and Wild

West adventures. Look for special events like Day Out With Thomas: Party Tour (June 6-9 & 12-15) and their 4th of July Extravaganza.

Grandfather Mountain Highland Games (July 10-14): Just a short drive from Boone, this premier event celebrates Scottish heritage with athletic competitions, music, dancing, and clan gatherings in a breathtaking mountain setting.

Horn In The West Outdoor Drama (Select Dates in July & August): America's longest-running Revolutionary War outdoor drama tells the story of the early settlers in the region. Check their schedule for performances throughout the summer.

Brevard: Land of Waterfalls and Music:

Known for its stunning waterfalls and vibrant music scene, Brevard is a summer destination that can't be missed.

Brevard Music Center Summer Festival (May 31 - August 24): A cornerstone of WNC's summer, the Brevard Music Center presents a full schedule of classical, jazz, bluegrass, and opera performances by renowned artists and talented students. With over 80 concerts, nearly half of which are free, there's something for every musical taste. The 2025 season features performances by Yuja Wang, Béla Fleck, the Steep Canyon Rangers, and more.

Independence Day Celebration (July 4): Brevard's patriotic celebration includes a flag-raising ceremony, live music, street dancing, and a fantastic fireworks display.

Music by the Lake (Select Sundays in June, July, August): Blue Ridge Community College hosts free outdoor concerts by the lake on select Sunday evenings, featuring a variety of musical styles. Look for performances on June 22, July 27, August 10, and August 17.
