UNC-Chapel Hill -- August 30, 2023: On Monday afternoon, a faculty member at the University of UNC-Chapel Hill
was shot and died, prompting a 3-hour lockdown of the campus. 

UNC-Chapel Hill -- UNC Hill Hill Classes announced the following Tuesday: UNC-Chapel Hill canceled and most operations suspended through Wednesday to process death of a faculty member on Monday.

McDowell County -- August 23, 2023: McDowell County Deputies responded to a domestic incident on Friday.

Rutherford County -- August 21, 2023: Kevin Clifford Marks, 58, was sentenced in Rutherford County
Superior Court on Thursday, August 10, 2023.
