Man Charged With Driving Woman Off Road, Abduction, Stabbing

McDowell County -- August 23, 2023: McDowell County Deputies responded to a domestic incident on Friday.

According to the McDowell County Sheriff's Office, the location was the intersection of Breezy Hill Drive and
BatCave Road.  When they arrived on the site, they discovered a vehicle down the embankment being held by
trees with no passengers inside.

The caller told investigators that he was on the phone with the driver when she was run off the road by someone,
according to the sheriff's office. Deputies investigated the area for the suspect's vehicle but were unable to locate it.
Officers from the Asheville Police Department apprehended the defendant, 45-year-old Robert Andrew Higgins, shortly
after by the Asheville Police Department. According to officials, the female victim was found at Mission Hospital with multiple stab wounds.

Higgins is charged with felonious second-degree kidnapping and felonious assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury. He was issued a $500,000 secured bond.
