Man Faces Stabbing Charges in Mitchell County

MItchell County -- August 28, 2023: Mitchell County Law Enforcement officers responded to a stabbing at 252 Laurel Ridge Drive, Spruce Pine on Saturday.

Authorities determined that Franklin stabbed the boyfriend of his mother. 

The Mitchell County Sheriff's Office reported on social media that "all subjects were heavily intoxicated." The victim of the incident was been flown to Mission Hospital.

Austin John Lee Franklin, 24, was charged with the following:
Felony Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill or Cause Serious Injury
Court Date: 9-20-23
Bond: $100,000
