Buncombe County -- December 6, 2024:  Buncombe County Sheriff's Office: Investigators with the Buncombe

County Sheriff’s Office are investigating an Arson at a business north of Weaverville.  Surveillance video posted on BCSO’s facebook page shows two trucks exploding into flames around 8:00 pm on November 30th at The Yard located on Cole Road off Clarks Chapel Road.

Prior to arrival, AFD observed a person walking away from the scene, heading south. Upon arrival, officers canvassed the area, located a person walking on the road, and saw that she fit the description of the person fleeing the fire. Samantha Marie Scott (11/23/1990) was taken into custody without incident.

Scott was charged with Felony Burning Personal Property, Felony Burning of a Commercial Structure-Unoccupied, and Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Scott was booked into the Buncombe County Detention Facility under a $40,000 (or $4,000 to a bondsman) secured bond issued by a magistrate.

This is the second Arson at that location this year.  Our investigators are asking anyone with information to contact Detective Burns at 828-250-4460.

Editor's Note: A  criminal charge is an accusation, by law, a person accused of a crime is innocent until proven in a court of law.
