Ashevilleย  -- November 6, 2024: Asheville Police Department Press Release: Detectives have arrested and charged a man for looting a business in west Asheville following Tropical Storm Helene.

APD officers responded to the 600 block of Patton Avenue in west Asheville around 7:44 p.m. on September 28th to investigate the breaking and entering of a business. When officers arrived on the scene, they found that the suspect had forced entry through a basement door, taking valuable items, including historic 1886 Winchester rifles and over two dozen unique custom-made knives, with a total estimated value of $70,000.

Following an investigation, Detectives were able to identifyย Michael William Plummer (12/14/1968)ย as the suspect.ย

Detectives located Plummer on Hazel Mill Road around 12:15 on November 1st and took him into custody without incident. Plummer was arrested and charged with the following:

-Felony Breaking and Entering
-Larceny After Breaking and Entering
-Felony Trespass During Emergency
-Possession of Burglary Tools

Plummer was booked into the Buncombe County Detention Facility under a $10,000 (or $1,000 to a bondsman) secured bond issued by a magistrate.ย
