Man Injured in Waynesville Police Officer-Involved Shooting
Waynesville -- October 15, 2024" On Monday morning, Waynesville police went to an incident that culminated in an officer-
involved shooting.
The police initially responded to 486 East Marshall Street, as shown by a social media post from the department at 11:50 a.m.Authorities reported that they arrived at the location at approximately 10:20 a.m.
The Waynesville police reported that the individual allegedly injured in the incident is Timothy Wayne Sellers, 56, from Waynesville. According to authorities, he was transferred to Mission Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening gunshot wounds.
Authorities reported their response to the Brookmont Lofts at approximately 10:20 a.m. The Waynesville Fire Department responded to complaints of smoke emanating from Sellers' apartment.
The Waynesville police reported that Sellers exited his apartment in an angry state, with a knife. It is said that he intimidated officers, prompting one officer to discharge his weapon.
The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation is conducting an inquiry.
