Drug Charges After Vehicle Stop Jackson County

Jackson County -- September 24, 2024: Saturday, at approximately midnight, deputies were operating in the US 74

vicinity of Sylva. 

Deputies stopped a car due to a traffic infraction. Upon the activation of the deputies' blue lights, an object was discarded from the vehicle prior to its cessation of movement. The deputies successfully recovered the discarded item. 

Deputies called for Police Canine from Sylva Police Department. Canine gave a positive alert to the vehicle. After the investigation was complete deputies located approximately 6.3 grams of suspected fentanyl. The following person was arrested:

Trafficking Opium or Heroin X2
Possession of drug paraphernalia
PWISD controlled substance
Alter/steal/Destroy Criminal Evidence
Littering not greater than 15 lbs
