Asheville -- September 24, 2024: Asheville Police Department Press Release:  Officers arrest two and recover two stolen

vehicles over the weekend with the help of advanced technology for the department's License Plate Reader (LPR) system. 

APD officers responded to an apartment complex on Granada Street around 6:09 p.m. on September 21st to investigate an LPR system alert regarding a stolen vehicle located at the complex. Upon arrival, officers located the stolen vehicle with two occupants. While attempting to make contact, the driver, Stephanie Michelle Seleska exited the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot but was quickly apprehended. During the arrest, Seleska was found to be in possession of 7.5 grams of fentanyl. The vehicle's occupant, David Richard Webb, was taken into custody without incident. 

Later, on the same shift, officers responded to another LPR alert, leading to the recovery of a second stolen vehicle in the 200 block of Deaverview Road.

The Asheville Police Department's use of advanced technology like License Plate Readers allows officers to respond swiftly and effectively, ensuring the safety of our community and the recovery of stolen property. 

Arrested:

Stephanie Michelle Seleska (03/02/1990)

-Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle

-Felony Probation Violation x2 

-Trafficking Opium

-Resisting Public Officer

Seleska was booked in the Buncombe County Detention Facility under NO BOND (ineligible for release) issued by a magistrate, due to Felony Probation Violation. 

David Richard Webb (05/01/1974)

-Destruction of Criminal Evidence

-Resisting Public Officer

Webb was booked in the Buncombe County Detention Facility under a $10,000 (or $1,000 to a bondsman) secured bond issued by a magistrate.
