Macon County -- September 13, 2024: Macon County Sheriff's Office: At 9:47 a.m. this morning, September 13,

an employee at the Macon County courthouse received a bomb threat to the third floor of the courthouse. The third floor was evacuated, and an initial search of the entire courthouse was conducted by Macon County deputies and Macon County 

Emergency Services. In addition, a NCSBI explosives detection dog was called in to conduct a secondary search and no devices were found. The threat was found not to be credible.

A person of interest has been interviewed, but no arrest has been made at this time. This investigation is ongoing, and more information may be released as this investigation develops.
