Buncombe County Sheriff's Homicide Black Mountain Investigation

Buncombe County -- August 23, 2024:  Press Release Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office Press Release:  After an

investigation, Buncombe County Sheriff's Office have charged Lori's daughter, Danya Kathryn Dewey, age 39, Black Mountain, with First-Degree Murder. Dewey has been placed in the Buncombe County Detention Facility with no bond.

Thank you to the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office Homicide Response Team and the Asheville Police Department Crisis Negotiation Team for their pivotal work in the apprehension of Danya Dewey. As the investigation is ongoing, we do not have any further information at this time.

Earler today: August 23, 2024: Press Release Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office Press Release: Deputies are

currently investigating a homicide at 23 Clarks Crossing Way in the Black Mountain area. After responding to the address for a welfare check, deputies found Lori Pallinger deceased. Next of kin has been notified. 

The investigation is ongoing. Sheriff’s Office Deputies are attempting to locate Lori's adult daughter, Danya Kathryn Dewey. Danya may be driving a silver 2015 Subaru Outback with North Carolina license plate number KDS-3461.
