Transylvania Sheriff's Office Scam Alert

Transylvania County -- July 15, 2024: Transylvania County Sheriff's Office: Unfortunately, we have to bring you news of another

scam going around. This time a person is calling from a spoofed Transylvania County Sheriff’s Office phone number stating that they are the FBI.

The caller then proceeds to tell the would-be victim that they missed Federal Jury Duty and that they now have a warrant for their arrest.

The scam artist will then provide you with a way out by allowing you to pay a bond. They even go as far as to have a fake warrant for your arrest that they will provide you.

If you receive one of these calls please get in touch with Transylvania County Sheriff’s Office or your local law enforcement agency and confirm any, and all information before giving these scam artists any money.

Unfortunately, these scam artists do their homework and generally know a great deal about you or your family and can be very convincing.
