Man Charged in Weaverville Death July 4th

Buncombe County -- July 5, 2024:  On Thursday, deputies from the Buncombe County Sheriff's Office responded to a wellness check

at 5 Ebernickle Lane in Weaverville, NC. Upon arrival, they found Diane Lofland deceased.

Following an initial investigation, the Buncombe County Sheriff's Office has charged Eric Gentle with First Degree Murder. Mr. Gentle has been placed in the Buncombe County Detention Facility with no bond.

Next of kin were notified before releasing this information.
