One Person Dead in Yancey County House Fire

Yancey County -- April 21, 2024:  Yancey County Sheriff's Office announced on Saturday the death of a female in house 
fire the night before,

at a residence on Mine Branch Road in Yancey County. The Newdale Fire Department, along with neighboring fire departments, swiftly responded to the scene to extinguish the fire.

In coordination with the Newdale Fire Department, the Yancey County Sheriff's Office, the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (NC SBI), and the North Carolina State Fire Marshal's Office have initiated an investigation to determine the cause and origin of the tragic fire.

At this time, no further information regarding the incident will be released.
