Asheville -- April 18, 2024: Press Release: Asheville Police Department Officers arrested three on drug charges while responding to reports of a vehicle stolen from Henderson County.

APD Officers responded to an apartment complex on Granada Street around 11:26 a.m. on April 15 to investigate a report of a stolen vehicle. Officers arrived and located the vehicle reported stolen from Henderson County at the intersection of Hanover Street and Stewart Street with occupants, Mikal Dylan Philyaw,  Ethan Nathaniel Olson, and Jacob Peter Smith-Vial. During the arrest, officers located 14.42 grams of fentanyl.

Seized:

-14.42 Grams of suspected Fentanyl

Arrested:

Mikal Dylan Philyaw (06/03/2000)

-Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle

-Trafficking Opium Level II

-Conspire to Sell/Deliver Controlled Substance

-Knowingly Possess With Intent to Sell/Deliver Schedule II

-Possession of Schedule II

Philyaw was booked into the Buncombe County Detention Facility under NO BOND (ineligible for a release), issued by a magistrate, due to the pretrial integrity act. 

Ethan Nathaniel Olson (11/02/2001)

-Trafficking Opium Level II

-Conspire to Sell/Deliver Controlled Substance

-Knowingly Possess With Intent to Sell/Deliver Schedule II

-Possession of Schedule II

Olson was booked into the Buncombe County Detention Facility under $50,000 Secured Bond (or $5,000 to a bondsman) by a magistrate.

Jacob Peter Smith-Vial (06/23/2005) - (warrants outstanding)

-Trafficking Opium Level II

-Conspire to Sell/Deliver Controlled Substance

-Knowingly Possess With Intent to Sell/Deliver Schedule II

-Possession of Schedule II

Smith-Vial was transported to Mission Hospital with a medical issue and is awaiting to be served with his outstanding charges.
