Henderson County Sheriff Chase and Gunfire Exchange

Henderson County -- April 15, 2024: The Henderson County Sheriff's Office dispatched deputies to the North Mills River Campground on Saturday, at around 6:07 p.m.,

in response to a disturbance. It was claimed that a male person was armed and had been threatening individuals. A pursuit with the suspect started after the police arrived.

Following the collision, the suspect fired rounds from his van, starting an exchange of gunfire with responding law enforcement personnel.

The concerned deputies have been placed on administrative leave in accordance with protocol, and the North Carolina SBI has been informed and is presently looking into the matter. No further details at this time as if any injuries or the identity of the suspect.
