APD Search for Answers in Two-Year-Old Homicide Case
Asheville -- April 12, 2024: Press Release: Asheville Police Department
Investigators are still searching for answers in a homicide case in which a man was fatally shot two years ago in a West Asheville neighborhood.
On April 12, 2022, Lamichael Shawn Carter, age 27, was fatally shot in a West Asheville neighborhood. Officers located Carter, already deceased, in the roadway at 11:30 p.m. on Fairfax Avenue. Despite ongoing efforts by APD's dedicated detectives, crucial questions remain unanswered, leaving a family shattered and a community searching for resolution.
The Asheville Police Department (APD) continues to seek answers to bring closure to his grieving family. APD implores the community to come forward with any information that could assist in advancing the investigation.
“My son's death was a very traumatic event for my family and friends, taking a life is not a choice for us here on earth.
Our time comes when GOD sees it to be”, said Wendy, Mother of Lamichael. “Our communities are being damaged and hurt because of the gun violence that is affecting our people in Buncombe County. We need to come together and support each other and love each other to heal each other. Please, if anyone knows, has heard, or seen anything that night or day, please come forward to APD. My family would greatly appreciate someone speaking up for my son who now has no voice.”
The case remains an active investigation. We urge anyone with pertinent information, no matter how seemingly insignificant, to step forward and aid us in our pursuit of justice.
