Asheville -- March 1, 2024: Asheville Police reported the following arrest today: 

Department Detectives and Officers arrested a man Thursday afternoon trafficking drugs while following up on community complaints of illegal drug activity in West Asheville.


Detectives made contact with Justus Akeem Sloan (05/23/1995) in the area of Deaverview Road around 3:09 p.m. on February 29. As they attempted to make contact, he fled on foot but was quickly apprehended. During the arrest, he was found to be in possession of trafficking amounts of fentanyl and crack cocaine.

Seized:
-11.66g of fentanyl
-19.88g of crack cocaine
Arrested:
Justus Akeem Sloan (05/23/1995)
-Felony Trafficking in Opium or Heroin by Possession
-Felony Trafficking in Opium or Heroin by Transport
-Felony Possession with Intent to Sell or Deliver Schedule II Controlled Substance x2
-Felony Maintain a Vehicle for Controlled Substances
-Resisting Public Officer
-Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

Sloan was booked into the Buncombe County Detention Facility, where he is being held under NO BOND due to the Pretrial Integrity Act.
