Asheville -- January 29, 2024: Asheville Detectives and officers from the ApD worked with State Law Enforcement on Wednesday morning to apprehend a felony probation violator. 

The man was wanted on narcotics offenses and had multiple outstanding warrants.

On January 24, at around 11:48 a.m., officers found Isaiah Cain Gregory Smith close to the 70 block of Hubbard Avenue. Smith was wanted on various felonies for violating his probation and parole, for not showing up to court for multiple offenses, and for having active warrants related to an armed robbery that happened on January 5 at a hotel on Wedgefield Drive.

Smith attempted to escape on foot after police made contact with him; he was apprehended soon after. He was discovered to have more than one gram of fentanyl at the time of the arrest.

-Warrant: Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon
-Warrant: Felony Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill
-Warrant: Parole Violation
-Warrant: Felony Probation Violation x2
-Warrant: Felony Probation Violation Out of County
-Failure to Appear on Felony Identity Theft x2
-Failure to Appear on Larceny

Smith was booked into the Buncombe County Detention Facility under NO BOND (not eligible for release due to a violation of the Pretrial Integrity Act.)
