Deceased Person Found in Clyde Residence

Haywood County -- January 27, 2024: Haywood County Sheriff's Office made the following announcement Friday:

At approximately 12:45 today, January 26, 2024, deputies with the Haywood County Sheriff’s Office responded to a suspicious situation on James Street, Clyde, NC. 

 The caller was a maintenance worker and reported a foul smell and discovered what appeared to be human remains in the Clyde duplex.  Deputies and Detectives from the Haywood County Sheriff’s Office arrived on scene and with assistance from Haywood County Emergency Services and Canton Fire Department, secured the area.   After a search warrant was issued, we can say that human remains were located and identification of the deceased is not known at this time.  This investigation is open and will be ongoing.  No further details can be released at this time but will be released when available.
