​Manna Food Bank Gas Thief Arrested

Asheville -- November 30, 2023: Based on information from the public, an Asheville man has been identified as a gas thief who stole gas from the cars of a local charitable organization.

After the public provided police with information about Calvin Lee Rhinehart Sr., 60, they were able to identify him as the man who repeatedly entered the parking lot of Mann Food Bank located in the 670 block of Swannanoa River Road in November and stole gas by siphoning it from the association's vehicles. Rhinehart is accused of committing three felonies—one each of larceny and breaking and entering a motor vehicle.

On Wednesday, Manna Food Bank asked for help on social media from the public to help identify the man in the surveillance photos posted. The photos can be seen below.
