Man Charged in Deadly Asheville Crash
Asheville -- October 29, 2023: An individual who allegedly struck and fatally injured a pedestrian in the southern region of Asheville now faces criminal charges.
The Asheville Police Department made the announcement Saturday. Bernie Chan Rogers, aged 27, has been accused of Misdemeanor Death by Vehicle and Failure to Reduce Speed in relation to a fatal collision that occurred on October 18, 2023.
After concluding the investigation conducted by the Asheville Police Department and consulting with the Buncombe County District Attorney's Office, Bernie Chan Rogers (born on 08/02/1996) has been charged with Misdemeanor Death by Vehicle and Failure to Reduce Speed. Rogers was apprehended by the Haywood County Sheriff's Office for the aforementioned offenses on October 27th. He is presently detained at the Haywood County Detention Facility on a $20,000 secured bond.
