Asheville -- October 6, 2023: Asheville Police Department Patrol responded to several downtown vehicle break-ins on Wednesday morning.

According to the APD, officers investigated damaged windows and stolen property at six downtown businesses in the early morning.

Joseph Arnold Owens was charged in one incident. Police are actively investigating the other break-ins. Owens was arrested later that evening on Haywood Street for the following: Felony Possession Controlled Substance Schedule II - Break or Enter a Motor Vehicle Owens was placed into Buncombe County Detention Facility on a magistrate-issued $15,000 secured bond (or $1,500 to a bondsman).
